I sit upon the mantle, heavy, treasured, old
Been used before, but not like this, my meanings now in bold
The contour of my countries, the smoothness of my seas
the brightness of my brassy frame, my teaching qualities
The young hands slowly touch, they trace, the poke they pry
Whilst being closely watched by an older, wiser eye
Places we can visit, all within our home
The joyful knowledge blooms, so much better than a phone
The children that look at me, their wonder and their awe
Their hopes of distant travel, once covid is no more
My hope is to show them, how wide the world can be
So I hope you'll come and take a global trip with me
