Productive Lockdown

August 17, 2021

“I’ll do that next week!”

“Ah, I don’t really feel like doing that right now.”

“Yeah, I’ll do it eventually!”

Before COVID-19, I would put off projects and activities with a dismissive wave of my hand. It wasn’t necessarily that I didn’t have the time to do them (I did), but I couldn’t be bothered with doing something that didn’t absolutely need doing. Projects like finishing my painting, cleaning out my closet, and cleaning my walls just didn’t make it into my daily schedule. Now, I really have no excuse to not do it. All those big (or little) projects I didn’t feel like doing gradually seeped into my mind, until I could no longer ignore them.

In other words, COVID has forced me (in a good way) to get those projects done. Being in lockdown means I can go nowhere else, so I might as well do something productive. And, it gives me something to look back on and be proud of at the end of lockdown. I’ve realized that there’s no point putting things off for months. I might as well finish things, especially if I’ve got nowhere else to go! Now, lockdown has become a lot more productive than watching YouTube and Netflix all day! That does sound pretty good though….

Re: Thank you for the welcome! I’m doing fine in lockdown, bit boring but what can ya do. Don’t think it’ll end very soon either. Hopefully you’re doing ok too!
Also, I feel this piece so much! I’ve gone back to doing a lot of my abandoned activities that before lockdown were just cast aside for TV and social media. Now aside from doing more cleaning, I’ve begun writing (including outside this website), knitting, gardening, even stopped putting off reconnecting with old friends lol :)

Heh, glad to hear that you're finding some positive things out of this whole covid experience! I'll admit, I envy you... I seem to be going through the exact opposite situation — a lot of time = more time to procrastinate! yay! heheh, hope you're doing well!
