First they said I was a pushover,
Then they said I was too rude.

First they said I was too modest,
Then they said I was too proud.

First they said I needed to talk,
Then they said I was too loud.

First they said I needed friends,
Then they said my friends were worse.

First they said I was too little,
Then they said I became too much.

First they said I wasn't enough,
Now they say I'm not what they want.


First I said,
I was the worst,
First I said,
I was scared.

Then I said,
I'm always enough,
Then I said,
At least I cared.

First I said, I will be.

Then I said, I am.
