Writing across time and space.
Have you ever had the experience of writing a short story or novel and realizing that the main character resembles none other than… you?
It’s common—and helpful!—to use our own life experiences as material for fiction. But we can also get stuck in a rut, writing about ourselves, in one way or another, again and again and again.
This week, dear writers, stretch your imagination and reach across time and space. Write a piece of flash fiction in 200 words or less, that centers around a main character who:
- is a very different age from yourself (quite old or very young)
- lives across the world from you
