A head full of dreams.

Message from Writer

Writing enables me to express myself more clearly than I can any other way. It gives me somewhere to belong other than reality. It makes my life interesting. When I write, I feel unnaturally peaceful, content as I can be myself, no more. I can experiment with the words, the stories, the poems, to learn more about what I thought I knew about myself, and others.

The Flower

PROMPT: Poetry and Spoken Word Competition 2020

i feel like a fading flower
i’m wilting.
the painted silk of the petals from
vivid gold to
a drizzled beige syrup.
my vigour falling like tear-shaped raindrops,
the once-petals brimming over with
tear-shaped raindrops.
stems drooping like eyelids.
colour fading like moods.

Simplicity

PROMPT: Solidarity

the sheets are cosy
up so late.
looking up to see a posy
lonely, like fate.

my schedule today consists
of a couple hours study
watching the mist
make my life muddy.

typing at a laptop
until a meal.
waiting for a padlock
though it's all i can feel.

the c is plastered over every head-
line, every email though i try to decline.
the more companies send their regards
the more celebrities make cards

Why Trees are Vital to Life on Earth, and the Dangers of Deforestation

PROMPT: Environmental Journalism Competition 2020

For me, forests are a place of quiet. A place to simply stop and be still, away from the stress and ever-impending responsibilities of everyday life. A place where time seems to pause and one can take time to be at peace and reflect. To let the imagination flow, and appreciate the beauty and elegance of the nature surrounding you. The sprawling woods near my house have become my sanctuary of rest, and there is nothing more comforting to me...

FREE WRITING

i stand
and watch
doing
absolutely
nothing

the bright smiles of 9-year-olds
flutter and bloom
as they splay themselves out on the hard ground
sliding plastic stones across a barren wasteland
the shade of a camel
with colours of the rainbow criss-crossing
in lines
at uneven intervals

raven curly-heads in neon t-shirts
chubby cheeks before the trouble starts

i can see them already forming
cliques
best friends
bullies
kind ones
i can tell
already
it is as if i can...
